DTC B1706[14] Front/Rear Wiper Output Circuit Short to Ground or Open (BCM)

1. DTC B1706[14] description

The front wiper control circuit consists of the windshield wiper switch, rain and light sensor (if equipped), front wiper (ON/OFF) relay, front wiper H/L (high/low) relay, and wiper motor. When the wiper HI switch signal or the wiper HI operation request from the rain and light sensor is input, the BCM turns ON the front wiper H/L relay. If the BCM detects an open circuit or a short to ground in the front wiper H/L relay drive circuit, the DTC is set.

2. Condition for setting DTC B1706[14]

Condition for running the DTC

  • The ignition switch is ON.
  • The BCM commands the front wiper H/L relay OFF.

Condition for setting the DTC

  • The BCM detects an open circuit or a short to ground in the front wiper H/L relay drive circuit for 2 seconds or more.

3. Action taken when DTC B1706[14] sets

  • The control of the front wiper by the BCM is stopped.
  • Current and past failures are set.
