DTC B1719[12] Rear Defogger Output Circuit Short to Battery (BCM)

1. DTC B1719[12] description

When the rear defogger switch is pressed while the ignition switch is ON, the rear defogger relay is driven, the indicator light illuminates, and then the rear defogger is activated. If the BCM detects a malfunction in the rear defogger relay drive circuit, the DTC is set.

2. Condition for setting DTC B1719[12]

Condition for running the DTC

  • The BCM commands the rear defogger relay OFF.

Condition for setting the DTC

  • The BCM detects a short to the power supply in the rear defogger relay drive circuit for 2.5 seconds or more.
  • The BCM detects an overloading to the rear defogger relay drive circuit for 2 seconds or more.

3. Action taken when DTC B1719[12] sets

  • The rear defogger does not operate normally.
  • Current and past failures are set.
