DTC C1706[12] Rear Fog Lamp Output Circuit Short to Battery (BCM)

1. DTC C1706[12] description

When the BCM detects that the fog light switch is operated to the rear position while the headlight is illuminating, it illuminates the rear fog light. When the BCM detects that the fog light switch is operated to the rear position again or that the clearance light or ignition switch is turned OFF, it turns OFF the rear fog light. If the BCM detects a malfunction in the rear fog light relay drive circuit, the DTC is set.

2. Condition for setting DTC C1706[12]

Condition for running the DTC

  • The BCM commands the rear fog light relay OFF.

Condition for setting the DTC

Any of the following conditions are met:

  • The BCM detects a short to the power supply in the rear fog light relay drive circuit for 2.5 seconds or more.
  • The BCM detects an overloading to the rear fog light relay drive circuit for 2 seconds or more.

3. Action taken when DTC C1706[12] sets

  • The rear fog light does not operate normally.
  • Current and past failures are set.
