DTC B1706[49] Front/Rear Wiper Output Circuit Internal Electronic Failure (BCM)

1. DTC B1706[49] description

The front wiper control circuit consists of the windshield wiper switch, rain and light sensor (if equipped), front wiper (ON/OFF) relay, front wiper H/L (high/low) relay, and wiper motor. The BCM turns ON the front wiper relay and front wiper H/L relay according to the signal input from the windshield wiper switch and rain and light sensor. If the BCM detects a malfunction in the BCM internal drive circuit of the front wiper relay or front wiper H/L relay, the DTC is set.

2. Condition for setting DTC B1706[49]

Condition for running the DTC

  • The ignition switch is ON.
  • The BCM commands the front wiper relay or front wiper H/L relay OFF.

Condition for setting the DTC

Any of the following conditions are met:

  • The BCM detects an internal malfunction in the front wiper relay drive circuit in the BCM.
  • The BCM detects an internal malfunction in the front wiper H/L relay drive circuit in the BCM.

3. Action taken when DTC B1706[49] sets

  • The output of the front wiper is stopped.
  • The output of the front wiper is fixed in low until the DTC is cleared.
  • Current and past failures are set.
