The steering system failure warning light illuminates when the ignition switch is turned ON, and then the light turns OFF if a DTC is not set after the engine is started. The steering system failure warning light is illuminated by sending light illumination requests from the EPS monitor control unit to the instrument panel cluster via CAN communication.
The steering system failure warning light is installed inside the instrument panel cluster. When a malfunction occurs, it illuminates in order to notify the driver that an inspection and repair must be performed as soon as possible. If the steering system failure warning light remains ON in response to a command from the EPS motor control unit, the DTC is set.
