DTC P0115[81] Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (CAN): Received Data Invalid (Auto A/C)

1. DTC P0115[81] description

The engine coolant temperature sensor is installed near the thermostat housing. The engine coolant temperature sensor is a variable resistor that measures the engine coolant temperature. The engine coolant temperature sensor is connected to the ECM, and the temperature information from the engine coolant temperature sensor is sent to the auto A/C control unit via CAN communication.

2. Condition for setting DTC P0115[81]

Condition for running the DTC

  • DTC U0064[88] is not set.

Refer to "57.HVAC Control 7A.Troubleshooting(Auto A/C) DTC U0064[88] CAN Network: Bus-Off (CAN)".

Also, the following are met for 5 seconds or more:

  • The ignition switch is ON.
  • The ignition voltage is 10 V or more.

Condition for setting the DTC

  • The automatic A/C control unit detects that the engine coolant temperature sensor temperature information received from the ECM is abnormal.

3. Action taken when DTC P0115[81] sets

  • The auto A/C control unit sets the engine coolant temperature to the default value (80°C {176°F}).
