Check transmission warning light illuminating circuit system check (AWR6B45)

1. Automatic transmission system check

Refer to "55.Transmission Control 5A.Troubleshooting(AWR6B45) diagnostic system check-transmission controls".

2. Warning light illumination check

1) Turn ON the ignition switch.

2) Check the check trans warning light. Does the warning light turn OFF after illuminating for 3 seconds?

Yes

Go to Intermittent conditions of automatic transmission.

Refer to "206.Transmission, Transaxle 19D.Symptom(AWR6B45) Intermittent conditions of automatic transmission".

No

=>Go to Automatic transmission control unit power supply voltage inspection.

3. Automatic transmission control unit power supply voltage inspection

1) Turn OFF the ignition switch.

2) Disconnect the TCM harness connector (E5).

3) Turn ON the ignition switch.

4) Measure the voltage of the power supply circuit (pins 1 and 10 of E5) with a DMM. Is the voltage normal?

Refer to "LHD Automatic Transmission" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Refer to "RHD Automatic Transmission" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Standard: 10 to 16 V

Yes

=>Go to TCM harness connector inspection.

No

Repair the circuit as necessary.

Note

  • If the fuse blows out again, inspect the circuit for a short to ground.

=>Go to Repair verification.

4. TCM harness connector inspection

1) Turn OFF the ignition switch.

2) Disconnect the TCM harness connector (E5).

3) Inspect the connection status of the TCM harness connector terminals (pins 1 and 10 of E5). Is the connection status normal?

Refer to "LHD Automatic Transmission" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Refer to "RHD Automatic Transmission" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Yes

=>Go to Warning light illumination follow-up check.

No

Repair the circuit as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

5. Warning light illumination follow-up check

1) Turn OFF the ignition switch.

2) Securely connect all of the disconnected harness connectors.

3) Turn ON the ignition switch.

4) Check the check trans warning light. Does the warning light turn OFF after illuminating for 3 seconds?

Yes

Go to Intermittent conditions of automatic transmission.

Refer to "206.Transmission, Transaxle 19D.Symptom(AWR6B45) Intermittent conditions of automatic transmission".

No

=>Go to Instrument panel cluster warning light operation inspection.

6. Instrument panel cluster warning light operation inspection

1) Turn OFF the ignition switch.

2) Turn ON the ignition switch.

3) Inspect the operation of the other warning lights excluding the check trans warning light. Is the result normal?

Yes

=>Go to TCM replacement.

No

Replace the instrument panel cluster as necessary.

Note

  • Perform Vehicle Configuration Setting after replacing the instrument panel cluster.

=>Go to Repair verification.

7. TCM replacement

Note

  • Perform programming after replacing the TCM.

Procedure completion

=>Go to Repair verification.

8. Repair verification

1) Securely connect the disconnected harness connectors.

2) Turn OFF the ignition switch for 15 seconds or more.

3) Perform a test drive.

4) Check the check trans warning light, as well as the vehicle behavior and drivability. Does the vehicle run properly without the check trans warning light illuminating or a DTC being set?

Yes

The system is normal.

No

Go to Diagnostic system check-transmission controls.
