DTC P0426 Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) Sensor 1 Circuit Range/Performance (4JJ3 with DPD)

1. DTC P0426 description

Exhaust gas temperature sensor 1 (front of DPD filter) is installed at the inlet of the DPD filter. Exhaust gas temperature sensor 1 (front of DPD filter) is a variable resistor and measures the exhaust gas temperature in front of the DPD filter. If the ECM detects an excessively high exhaust gas temperature, the DTC is set.

2. Condition for setting DTC P0426

Condition for running the DTC

  • The battery voltage is 9 to 16 V.
  • The ignition switch is ON.
  • DTCs P0427, P0428, P060B, and P06A3 are not set.

Refer to "51.Engine Control 1A.Troubleshooting(4JJ3 with DPD) DTC P0427 Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) Sensor 1 Circuit Low".

Refer to "51.Engine Control 1A.Troubleshooting(4JJ3 with DPD) DTC P0428 Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) Sensor 1 Circuit High".

Refer to "51.Engine Control 1A.Troubleshooting(4JJ3 with DPD) DTC P06A3 Sensor Reference Voltage 4 Circuit".

Condition for setting the DTC

  • The ECM detects that Exhaust Gas Temperature 1 is 880°C {1,616°F} or more for 5 seconds.

3. Action taken when DTC P0426 sets

  • The ECM illuminates the SVS indicator light. Refer to Action taken when DTC sets - Type C.

Refer to "51.Engine Control 1A.Troubleshooting(4JJ3 with DPD) DTC type definitions".

  • The ECM limits the fuel injection quantity.
  • The ECM inhibits the cruise control.

4. Condition for clearing DTC P0426

  • Refer to Condition for clearing the SVS indicator light/DTC - Type C.

Refer to "51.Engine Control 1A.Troubleshooting(4JJ3 with DPD) DTC type definitions".
