DTC P0708 (Flash Code 17) Transmission Range Switch Circuit High (AWR6B45)

1. DTC P0708 description

The inhibitor switch is connected to the manual valve lever shaft, and is installed to the transmission case. Supplied with ignition power, the inhibitor switch closes contact points of P, R, N, and D in accordance with selector lever operation, and supplies ignition voltage to the TCM. The TCM detects the shift position based on the signals from the inhibitor switch. If the TCM detects a high voltage in 2 or more switches at the same time, the DTC is set.

2. Condition for setting DTC P0708

Condition for running the DTC

  • The ignition switch is ON.
  • The battery voltage is 9.0 to 16.0 V.
  • The ignition voltage is 9.0 to 16.0 V.
  • DTCs P2534 and P2535 are not set.

Refer to "55.Transmission Control 5A.Troubleshooting(AWR6B45) DTC P2534 (Flash Code 73) Ignition Switch Run/Start Position Circuit Low".

Refer to "55.Transmission Control 5A.Troubleshooting(AWR6B45) DTC P2535 (Flash Code 73) Ignition Switch Run/Start Position Circuit High".

Condition for setting the DTC

  • The TCM detects that multiple inhibitor switch signals are ON at the same time for 5 seconds or more.

3. Action taken when DTC P0708 sets

  • The TCM flashes the check trans warning light. Refer to Action taken when DTC sets - Type A.

Refer to "55.Transmission Control 5A.Troubleshooting(AWR6B45) DTC type definitions".

  • The TCM inhibits the self-learning control.
  • The TCM inhibits the lock-up timing control.
  • The TCM inhibits the slip lock-up control.
  • The TCM inhibits the garage control.
  • The TCM inhibits the engine torque control.
  • The TCM recognizes the gear shift positions in order of priority: D > R > N > P.

4. Condition for clearing DTC P0708

  • Refer to Condition for clearing the MIL, check trans warning light/DTC - Type A or Type B.

Refer to "55.Transmission Control 5A.Troubleshooting(AWR6B45) DTC type definitions".
