EGR gas temperature sensor 1 (exhaust manifold side) is installed to the exhaust manifold. EGR gas temperature sensor 1 (exhaust manifold side) measures the exhaust gas temperature at the EGR cooler inlet. EGR gas temperature sensor 2 (EGR valve side) is installed to the EGR valve adapter. EGR gas temperature sensor 2 (EGR valve side) measures the exhaust gas temperature at the EGR cooler outlet. The ECM continually monitors the difference between the temperatures input from both sensors. If the ECM detects that the difference between the temperatures input from both sensors is less than the calculated value, the DTC is set.
