DTC U010A Lost Communication With Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Control Module (4JJ3 without DPD)

1. DTC U010A description

The ECM communicates with the EGR valve and executes EGR control. The ECM sends a request signal to the EGR valve. The ECM receives a response signal from the EGR valve. Both communication signals are sent and received via CAN communication circuit. If the ECM receives an incorrect response signal from the EGR valve, the DTC is set.

2. Condition for setting DTC U010A

Condition for running the DTC

  • The battery voltage is 9 to 16 V.
  • The ignition switch is ON.
  • DTC U0074 is not set.

Refer to "51.Engine Control 1A.Troubleshooting(4JJ3 without DPD) DTC U0074 Control Module Communication Bus Off - Local CAN".

Condition for setting the DTC

  • The ECM detects that the CAN messages from the EGR valve are not being received.

3. Action taken when DTC U010A sets

  • Euro4: The ECM illuminates the MIL. Refer to Action taken when DTC sets - Type A (Euro4).
  • Except Euro4: The ECM illuminates the check engine warning light. Refer to Action taken when DTC sets - Type A (Except Euro4).

Refer to "51.Engine Control 1A.Troubleshooting(4JJ3 without DPD) DTC type definitions".

  • The ECM limits the fuel injection quantity.
  • The ECM inhibits the EGR control.
  • The ECM inhibits the cruise control.

4. Condition for clearing DTC U010A

  • Euro4: Refer to Condition for clearing the MIL/DTC - Type A or Type B (Euro4).
  • Except Euro4: Refer to Condition for clearing the check engine warning light/DTC - Type A or Type B (Except Euro4).

Refer to "51.Engine Control 1A.Troubleshooting(4JJ3 without DPD) DTC type definitions".
