FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2]

id0140z7801300

Fuel injector (2pin type)

Voltage Inspection

Note
•  The fuel pressure sensor cannot be removed as a single unit. When replacing the fuel pressure sensor, replace it together with the common rail as a single unit.

1.  Switch the ignition ON (engine off).

2.  Measure the voltage at the fuel pressure sensor terminal B.

ac5wzw00009789

•  If the voltage is within the specification, go to the next step.
•  If the voltage is not within the specification, replace the common rail. (See COMMON RAIL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)
Specification
Approx. 0.85 V

3.  Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.

4.  Start the engine.

5.  Access the PID/DATA monitor item FRP using the M-MDS. (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC TEST [PCM (SKYACTIV-D 2.2)].)

6.  Measure the voltage at the fuel pressure sensor terminal B when the FRP PID increases.

•  If the voltage does not increase, replace the common rail. (See COMMON RAIL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)

Fuel injector (6pin type)

Note
•  The fuel pressure sensor cannot be removed as a single unit. When replacing the fuel pressure sensor, replace it together with the fuel injector as a single unit.

PID/DATA Monitor Inspection

1.  Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.

2.  Start the engine.

3.  Access the following PIDs using the M-MDS. (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC TEST [PCM (SKYACTIV-D 2.2)].)

•  ICP1 (fuel pressure sensor (built into fuel injector No.1))
•  ICP2 (fuel pressure sensor (built into fuel injector No.2))
•  ICP3 (fuel pressure sensor (built into fuel injector No.3))
•  ICP4 (fuel pressure sensor (built into fuel injector No.4))

4.  When increasing the engine speed, verify that the PID values for ICP1 / ICP2 / ICP3 / ICP4 change as shown in the figure.

•  If the PID values do not change, replace the applicable fuel injector. (See FUEL INJECTOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)
