Fuel injector (2pin type)

Resistance Inspection

Note
•  The fuel temperature sensor cannot be removed as a single unit. When replacing the fuel temperature sensor, replace it together with the lower case as a single unit.

1.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

2.  Remove the engine cover. (See ENGINE COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)

3.  Disconnect the fuel temperature sensor connector.

4.  While verifying the fuel temperature (PID: FRT) using the PID/data monitor function, measure the resistance between fuel temperature sensor terminals A and B. (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC TEST [PCM (SKYACTIV-D 2.2)].)

Note
•  The fuel temperature sensor cannot be removed as a single unit. When replacing the fuel temperature sensor, replace it together with the fuel injector as a single unit.

PID/DATA Monitor Inspection

1.  Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.

2.  Start the engine.

3.  Access the following PIDs using the M-MDS. (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC TEST [PCM (SKYACTIV-D 2.2)].)

•  IFT1 (fuel temperature sensor (built into fuel injector No.1))
•  IFT2 (fuel temperature sensor (built into fuel injector No.2))
•  IFT3 (fuel temperature sensor (built into fuel injector No.3))
•  IFT4 (fuel temperature sensor (built into fuel injector No.4))

4.  When increasing the engine speed, verify that the PID values for IFT1/IFT2/IFT3/IFT4 increase.

•  If the PID values do not increase, replace the applicable fuel injector. (See FUEL INJECTOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)
