CLOCK SPRING INSPECTION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM]

1.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

2.  Remove the following parts:

(1)  Driver-side air bag module (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM].)

(2)  Steering wheel (See STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(3)  Column cover (See COLUMN COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

3.  Remove the clock spring. (See CLOCK SPRING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM].)

4.  Verify that the continuity is as indicated in the table.

•  If not as indicated in the table, replace the clock spring. (See CLOCK SPRING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM].)

Note

•  When the vehicle-side connector for the clock spring is disconnected, terminals 2A, 2B, 2C and 2D are shorted to prevent unexpected operation (deployment) of the air bag module.
