STEERING SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

•  Handling the driver's air bag module improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag module, which may seriously injure you. 1.  Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).

2.  Open the driver's door.

3.  Switch the ignition OFF.

4.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

5.  Remove the driver's air bag module. (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM].) 6.  Hold the shaded areas shown in the figure, move the steering switch in the order of arrows (1) and (2) and detach tabs A and B from the steering wheel.

7.  Insert a tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver into the position shown in the figure, press the tabs of the wiring harness clips in the order of arrows (1) and (2) and detach the clips from the steering wheel.

8.  Disconnect the steering switch connector.

9.  Disconnect the steering shift switch connector. (with steering shift switch)

10.  Remove the steering switch.

11.  Install in the reverse order of removal.
