FRONT LOWER ARM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1.  Remove the front under cover No.2. (See FRONT UNDER COVER No.2 REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

2.  Remove in the order indicated in the table.

3.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

4.  Inspect the wheel alignment and adjust it if necessary. (See FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT.)

Front Lower Arm Bushing Removal Note

1.  Remove the front lower arm bushing using the SSTs and the press.

Front Lower Arm Bushing Installation Note

1.  Install the front lower arm bushing using the SSTs and the press.

Caution
•  Install the front lower arm bushing so that the projection shown in the figure is pointing toward the front of the vehicle.
Note
•  Applying soapy water to the front lower arm bushing facilitates installation.
•  If soapy water gets in the inner pipe of the front lower arm bushing, always wipe it off using a cloth.

2.  After installing the front lower arm bushing, verify that it is installed to the position shown in the figure.

Front Lower Arm Ball Joint Installation Note

Warning
•  Rusting of the front lower arm ball joint may cause it to fall off the steering knuckle. When replacing the front lower arm component on a vehicle equipped with a ball joint cover, do not install the ball joint cover. (with ball joint cover)
Caution
•  If any problem such as deformation is found with the dust cover plate, replace the front lower arm component with a new one. Otherwise, an operation malfunction or rust may occur inside the ball joint due to foreign matter or water infiltration or another cause, leading to damage of the ball joint. (without ball joint cover)

1.  Insert the bolt from the front of the vehicle and tighten the nut to the specified torque.


Ball Joint Cover Installation Note (With Ball Joint Cover)

Warning
•  Rusting of the front lower arm ball joint may cause it to fall off the steering knuckle. Securely install the ball joint cover to the steering knuckle. (with ball joint cover)

1.  Install a ball joint cover to the steering knuckle before installing the front lower arm ball joint. (with ball joint cover)

2.  Insert the bolt from the front of the vehicle and tighten the nut to the specified torque.
