PARKING ASSIST UNIT (OPTICAL) [WITH CENTER DISPLAY]

Purpose
• The parking assist unit (optical) controls the side camera, rear mount camera, and the camera illumination based on the signals from the instrument cluster and the monitor switch.
Functions
Side camera control
-
• When all of the following conditions are met, the parking assist unit supplies power to the side camera positioned in the outer mirror (LH) and sends a video signal to the connectivity master unit (CMU).

― Monitor switch ON signal detected
― Vehicle speed signal of less than 10 km/h is detected from instrument cluster
― Engine cranking signal from the instrument cluster is not received

Note
-
• If the power supply to the side camera is interrupted, a video display cancel signal is sent to the CMU.
• If an R position signal is received from the instrument cluster, the power supply to the side camera is interrupted and the center display switches to the rear view monitor screen.
Side camera off-timer function
-
• If 4 min and 30 s have elapsed since the side monitor screen began display, the parking assist unit (optical), performs the following controls.

― Interrupts power supply to side camera and camera illumination
― Sends video display cancel signal to CMU
Camera illumination control

• When all of the following conditions are met, the parking assist unit (optical) supplies power to the camera illumination positioned in the outer mirror (LH) and turns on the camera illumination.

― Side camera is operating (side monitor screen is displayed in center display)
― Headlight on signal received from instrument cluster
― Engine cranking signal not received from instrument cluster
Rear mount camera control

• If a R position signal is received from the instrument cluster, the parking assist unit (optical) supplies power to the rear mount camera and sends a video signal to the CMU.

Note
-
• If the power supply to the rear mount camera is interrupted, a video display cancel signal is sent to the CMU.
• If a monitor switch on signal is received while the rear mount camera is operating (rear monitor screen is displayed in center display), the following controls are performed.

― Power supply to rear mount camera is interrupted and video display cancel signal is sent to CMU
― Power is supplied to side camera and camera illumination, and video signal is sent to CMU
Construction
• The parking assist unit (optical) is located above the glove compartment.
