OIL SEAL (COMPANION FLANGE) REPLACEMENT

1.  Drain the differential oil into a container.

2.  Remove the middle pipe, and front pipe. (See EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L3 Turbo].)

3.  Remove the propeller shaft. (See PROPELLER SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4.  Remove the locknut using the SST.

5.  Support the differential using a jack.

6.  After removing the front side of the differential mount, gradually lower the jack and tilt the front side of the differential downward.

7.  Pull the companion flange off using the SST.

8.  Remove the oil seal from the differential carrier using a screwdriver or similar tool.

9.  Apply differential oil to the new oil seal lip.

10.  Install the new oil seal to the differential carrier using the SST.

11.  Install the companion flange to the drive pinion.

12.  Jack up the differential and install the front side of the differential mount.

Tightening torque
75.5—102 N·m {7.7—10.4 kgf·m, 55.7—75.2 ft·lbf}

13.  Install the washer and a new locknut.

14.  Tighten the locknut to the specified torque using the SST.

167—226 N·m {17.1—23.0 kgf·m, 124—166 ft·lbf}

15.  Install the propeller shaft. (See PROPELLER SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

16.  Install the middle pipe, and front pipe. (See EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L3 Turbo].)

17.  Add the specified differential oil from the filler plug. (See DIFFERENTIAL OIL REPLACEMENT.)
