The security light display is not normal.

DESCRIPTION

•  The security light remains illuminated 2 min or more after the ignition switch is turned to the ON position

•  The security light does not illuminate when the ignition switch is turned to the ON position.

•  The security light remains illuminated while the ignition switch is at the LOCK position.

•  The security light does not flash or the flashing interval is abnormal while the ignition switch is at the LOCK position.

POSSIBLE CAUSE

•  Advanced keyless control module malfunction (with advanced keyless control system)

•  Instrument cluster malfunction

Note

•  If the security light remains illuminated for approx. 1 min after the ignition switch is turned to the ON position and then displays a DTC, perform immobilizer system malfunction diagnosis according to that DTC. (See DTC TABLE [IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM (ADVANCED KEYLESS AND START SYSTEM)].)(See DTC TABLE [IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM (KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM)].)

•  While performing immobilizer system security access using the M-MDS, the security light does not illuminate even if the ignition switch is turned to the ON position. Verify the illumination condition of the security light by disconnecting the DLC-2 to release security access.

Note

• Normal operation of the security light is as follows. The light starts flashing every 2 s when the ignition switch is turned from ON to ACC position and the immobilizer system is armed. The light stops flashing when the ignition switch is turned to the ON position with the correct ignition key. At this time, the immobilizer system is disarmed and the security light illuminates for about 3 s and then goes out.

Diagnostic Procedure

STEP	INSPECTION		ACTION
1	• Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. • Do other warning lights in the instrument cluster illuminate normally? • Do the warning lights illumination normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
1		No	Inspect the instrument cluster. (See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER INSPECTION [European (L.H.D. U.K.) specs.])(See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER INSPECTION [Australian specs.].)
2	• Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. • Verify that the security light illuminates. • Does the security light remain illuminates for 2 min or more?	Yes	Replace the instrument cluster. (See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
2		No	Go to Step 5.
3	• Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position. • Verify that the security light illuminates. • Does the security light remain illuminates?	Yes	Replace the instrument cluster. (See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
3		No	Go to Step 5.
4	• Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position. • Verify that the security light is flashing. • Does the security light flash normally?	Yes	Go to the next step.
4		No	If the security light flashes with DTC patterns, perform the applicable DTC troubleshooting procedure. (See DTC TABLE [IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM (ADVANCED KEYLESS AND START SYSTEM)].) If the security light does not flash, replace the instrument cluster.(See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
5	• Is the advanced keyless entry system equipped?	Yes	Go to the next step.
5	• Is the advanced keyless entry system equipped?	No	Replace the instrument cluster. (See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
6	• Disconnect the negative battery. • Disconnect the advanced keyless control module connectors. • Connect the negative battery. • Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. • Verify that the security light illuminates. • Does the security light illuminate normally?	Yes	Replace the instrument cluster. (See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
6		No	Replace the advanced keyless control module. (See KEYLESS CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [ADVANCED KEYLESS SYSTEM].)
