1. Measure the runout of the center area of the propeller shaft using a dial gauge.

0.8 mm {0.03 in} (Reference)

• If it exceeds the maximum, replace the propeller shaft. (See PROPELLER SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

2. Move the universal joint in the direction of the arrows and inspect the play and rotation condition of the joint.

Propeller shaft swing initial torque

0.3—1.4 N·m {3.1—14 kgf·cm, 2.7—12 in·lbf}

• If not within the standard, replace the propeller shaft. (See PROPELLER SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
