Joint area excessive play inspection

1.  Shake the universal joint by hand and verify that there is no excessive play.

•  If there is any malfunction, replace the propeller shaft. (See PROPELLER SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

Propeller shaft runout inspection

Caution

•  Do not rotate the propeller shaft with the engine drive force during inspection.

1.  Shift the selector lever to the N position and release the parking brake.

2.  Rotate the rear wheels by hand and verify the propeller shaft runout at the 3 locations shown in the figure.
