Caution
•  When performing configuration, it is necessary to read the characteristic value of the coupling component from the 4WD control module before replacing it. Connect the M-MDS to the vehicle and perform vehicle identification before removing the 4WD control module. The coupling component characteristic value is temporarily stored in the M-MDS during vehicle identification.
•  If configuration is not performed when the 4WD control module is replaced with a new one, the coupling component characteristic value is not stored in the 4WD control module and the following conditions may occur.
―  The system may not operate normally.
―  A problem with durability of the coupling component may occur.
Note
•  The characteristic value of the coupling component is stored in the 4WD control module prior to replacement.
•  The characteristic value of the coupling component is not stored in the new 4WD control module.
•  If the coupling component characteristic value from the 4WD control module cannot be read, input the coupling component characteristic value. (See COUPLING COMPONENT CALIBRATION DATA WRITING.)

1.  If the 4WD control module is replaced, perform the 4WD control module configuration. (See 4WD CONTROL MODULE CONFIGURATION.)

2.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

3.  Remove the front scuff plate (RH). (See FRONT SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4.  Remove the front side trim (RH). (See FRONT SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

5.  Disconnect the connector.

8.  Remove the 4WD control module.

9.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

Note
•  If configuration cannot be performed by reading/writing of the coupling component characteristic value, input the coupling component characteristic value after replacing the 4WD control module. (See COUPLING COMPONENT CALIBRATION DATA WRITING.)
