DIFFERENTIAL GEAR O-RING REPLACEMENT [AY6A-EL, AY6AX-EL]

Caution

•  The O-ring is easily damaged by the sharp edges of the drive shaft and joint shaft splines. Do not let the splines contact the O-ring.

1.  Remove the front splash shield. (See SPLASH SHIELD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

2.  Disconnect the drive shaft (LH) from the transaxle. (See FRONT DRIVE SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

3.  Disconnect the drive shaft (RH) from the joint shaft. (See FRONT DRIVE SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4.  Remove the joint shaft. (See JOINT SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [2WD].)

5.  Remove and discard the O-rings using a tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver.

Caution

•  Do not damage the differential case.

6.  Apply ATF to the new O-rings and install it to the differential case.

7.  Install the joint shaft. (See JOINT SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [2WD].)

8.  Install the drive shaft (RH) to the joint shaft. (See FRONT DRIVE SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

9.  Install the drive shaft (LH) to the transaxle. (See FRONT DRIVE SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

10.  Install the front splash shield. (See SPLASH SHIELD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

Caution
