OIL SEAL (OIL PUMP) REPLACEMENT [AY6A-EL, AY6AX-EL]

1.  Remove the transaxle. (See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [AY6A-EL, AY6AX-EL].)

2.  Remove the torque converter. (See TORQUE CONVERTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [AY6A-EL, AY6AX-EL].)

Caution

•  Do not damage the oil seal.

•  Do not drop the torque converter.

3.  Using a tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver, remove the oil seal from the oil pump body.

Caution

•  Do not to damage the bushing on the oil pump body.

4.  Using the SST and a hammer, install the oil seal to the oil pump body.

5.  Coat the lip of the oil seal with grease.

6.  Install the torque converter. (See TORQUE CONVERTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [AY6A-EL, AY6AX-EL].)

Caution

•  Do not damage the oil seal.

•  Do not drop the torque converter.

•  Do not pinch fingers.

7.  Install the transaxle. (See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [AY6A-EL, AY6AX-EL].)

8.  Add ATF. (See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID (ATF) LEVEL ADJUSTMENT [AY6A-EL, AY6AX-EL].)

9.  Adjust the ATF level. (See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID (ATF) LEVEL ADJUSTMENT [AY6A-EL, AY6AX-EL].)

10.  Perform the “MECHANICAL SYSTEM TEST”. (See MECHANICAL SYSTEM TEST [AY6A-EL, AY6AX-EL].)
