Communication error with auto light sensor/rain sensor |

Detection condition
|
• Auto light/wiper control module detects the communication error with the auto light sensor/rain sensor.
|
|
Possible cause
|
• Auto light sensor/rain sensor connector or terminal malfunction
• Auto light/wiper control module connector or terminal malfunction
• Short to ground in wiring harness between auto light sensor/rain sensor terminal C and auto light/wiper control module terminal 2E
• Short to power supply in wiring harness between auto light sensor/rain sensor terminal C and auto light/wiper control module terminal 2E
• Open circuit in wiring harness between auto light sensor/rain sensor terminal C and auto light/wiper control module terminal 2E
• Auto light sensor/rain sensor malfunction
• Auto light/wiper control module malfunction

INSPECT AUTO LIGHT SENSOR/RAIN SENSOR CONNECTOR
• Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
• Disconnect the negative battery cable.
• Disconnect the auto light sensor/rain sensor connector.
• Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.
• Is there any malfunction?

Yes
|
Repair or replace the connector, then go to Step 7.
|
|
No
|
Go to the next step.
|

INSPECT AUTO LIGHT/WIPER CONTROL MODULE CONNECTOR
• Disconnect the auto light/wiper control module connector.
• Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.
• Is there any malfunction?
|
Yes
|
Repair or replace the connector, then go to Step 7.
|
|
No
|
Go to the next step.
|

INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND IN AUTO LIGHT SENSOR/RAIN SENSOR CIRCUIT
• Verify that the auto light sensor/rain sensor and auto light/wiper control module connectors are disconnected.
• Inspect for continuity between auto light sensor/rain sensor terminal C (wiring harness-side) and body ground.
• Is there continuity?
|
Yes
|
Repair or replace the wiring harness which has a short to ground, then go to Step 7.
|
|
No
|
Go to the next step.
|

INSPECT FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY IN AUTO LIGHT SENSOR/RAIN SENSOR CIRCUIT
• Verify that the auto light sensor/rain sensor and auto light/wiper control module connectors are disconnected.
• Reconnect the negative battery cable.
• Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
• Measure the voltage at the auto light sensor/rain sensor terminal C (wiring harness-side).
• Is the voltage 0 V?

Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
|
No
|
Repair or replace the wiring harness which has a short to power supply, then go to Step 7.
|

INSPECT FOR OPEN CIRCUIT IN AUTO LIGHT SENSOR/RAIN SENSOR CIRCUIT
• Verify that the auto light sensor/rain sensor and auto light/wiper control module connectors are disconnected.
• Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
• Disconnect the negative battery cable.
• Inspect for continuity between auto light sensor/rain sensor terminal C (wiring harness-side) and auto light/wiper control module terminal 2E (wiring harness-side).
• Is there continuity?
|
Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
|
No
|
Repair or replace the wiring harness which has an open circuit, then go to Step 7.
|

PERFORM DTC INSPECTION AND VERIFY AUTO LIGHT SENSOR/RAIN SENSOR MALFUNCTION
• Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
• Reconnect the negative battery cable.
• Clear the DTC for the auto light/wiper control module using the M-MDS.
• Retrieve the auto light/wiper control module DTCs using the M-MDS.
• Is the same DTC displayed?
|
Yes
|
Replace the auto light sensor/rain sensor, then go to the next step.
|
|
No
|
Go to Step 8.
|

|
VERIFY DTC TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED
• Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
• Reconnect the negative battery cable.
• Clear the DTC for the auto light/wiper control module using the M-MDS.
• Retrieve the auto light/wiper control module DTCs using the M-MDS.
• Is the same DTC displayed?
|
Yes
|
Repeat the inspection from Step 1.
• If the malfunction recurs, replace the auto light/wiper control module.
Go to the next step.
|

No
|
Go to the next step.
|

|
VERIFY IF OTHER DTCs DISPLAYED
• Are any other DTCs displayed?
|
Yes
|
Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
|
|
No
|
DTC troubleshooting completed.
|
||
