Liftgate open/close speed is unstable while auto open/close function

DESCRIPTION
•  Liftgate operation speed is not stable (be fast or slow reiterate or suddenly) while open or close operation.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
•  Malfunction in liftgate link mechanism
―  Stay dumper malfunction
•  Malfunction in PLG link mechanism
―  PLG arm malfunction
―  PLG slider malfunction
•  PLG control module does not receive rotation sensor signal properly.
―  Rotation sensor malfunction (missing signal)
―  Temporary open or short to POWER/ground/other harness in wiring harness between PLG drive unit and PLG control module
―  Malfunction in PLG drive unit (motor or clutch malfunction)
•  PLG control module malfunction

When performing an asterisked (*) troubleshooting inspection, slightly shake the wiring harness and connectors while performing the inspection to discover whether poor contact points are the cause of any intermittent malfunctions. If there is a problem, verify that the connectors, terminals and wiring harnesses are connected correctly and undamaged.

―  Deformation

Yes
Replace the stay dumper.
No

INSPECT PLG ARM
•  Inspect the PLG arm for following points;
―  Deformation
―  Ball joint condition (sticking)
•  Is the problem detected?
Yes
Replace the PLG arm.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT PLG SLIDER
•  Inspect the PLG slider for following points;
―  Mechanical resistance
―  Deformation
―  Bite foreign material
―  Sticking
•  Is the problem detected?
Yes
Replace the PLG slider.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN PLG DRIVE UNIT AND PLG CONTROL MODULE
•  Turn the ignition switch to OFF position.
•  Disconnect the PLG drive unit and PLG control module connectors.
•  Inspect for open or short to POWER/ground/other harness circuit between PLG drive unit and PLG control module.
―  Between PLG drive unit terminal A and PLG control module terminal 1E
―  Between PLG drive unit terminal B and PLG control module terminal 1F
―  Between PLG drive unit terminal M and PLG control module terminal 2I
―  Between PLG drive unit terminal N and PLG control module terminal 2G
―  Between PLG drive unit terminal F and PLG control module terminal 2J
―  Between PLG drive unit terminal J and PLG control module terminal 2L
―  Between PLG drive unit terminal E and PLG control module terminal 2K
―  Between PLG drive unit terminal I and PLG control module terminal 2N
•  Is the open or short circuit detected?
Yes
Repair or replace malfunctioning part.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT MALFUNCTION IS IN PLG DRIVE UNIT OR PLG CONTROL MODULE
•  Replace the PLG drive unit.
•  Is the symptom solved?
Yes
Troubleshooting is completed.

Replace the PLG control module.
