REVERSE TILT DOWN DOES NOT OPERATE [OUTER MIRROR]

id0903f1613300

Description

Reverse tilt down does not operate

The tilt down function does not operate even if the selector lever is shifted to the R position.

Possible cause
•  DTCs are stored in the position memory control module.
•  Connector poor contact or terminal damage
•  Open circuit in wiring harness between the following terminals:
―  Position memory control module terminal 2S and power outer mirror (LH) terminal 1C
―  Position memory control module terminal 2U and power outer mirror (LH) terminal 1F
―  Position memory control module terminal 2M and power outer mirror (RH) terminal 1C
―  Position memory control module terminal 2O and power outer mirror (RH) terminal 1F
•  Short to ground in wiring harness between the following terminals:
―  Position memory control module terminal 2S and power outer mirror (LH) terminal 1C
―  Position memory control module terminal 2U and power outer mirror (LH) terminal 1F
―  Position memory control module terminal 2M and power outer mirror (RH) terminal 1C
―  Position memory control module terminal 2O and power outer mirror (RH) terminal 1F
•  Power outer mirror malfunction
•  Left/Right selection switch circuit malfunction
•  Position memory control module malfunction

Diagnostic procedure

Step

Inspection

Action

1
VERIFY DTCs
•  Using the M-MDS, display the DTCs related to the position memory control module.
•  Are any DTCs displayed?
Yes
Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
Go to the next step.
2
INSPECT POSITION MEMORY CONTROL MODULE CONNECTOR CONDITION
•  Disconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Disconnect the position memory control module connector.
•  Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition, and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.
•  Is the connector normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the connector, then go to Step9.
3
INSPECT POWER OUTER MIRROR CONNECTOR CONDITION
•  Disconnect the power outer mirror connector.
•  Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition, and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.
•  Is the connector normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the connector, then go to Step9.
4
VERIFY IF MALFUNCTION CAUSE IS OPEN CIRCUIT IN WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN POSITION MEMORY CONTROL MODULE AND
•  Verify that the position memory control module and the power outer mirror connector are disconnected.
•  Inspect the wiring harness for continuity between the following terminals (vehicle wiring harness side).
―  Position memory control module terminal 2S and power outer mirror (LH) terminal 1C
―  Position memory control module terminal 2U and power outer mirror (LH) terminal 1F
―  Position memory control module terminal 2M and power outer mirror (RH) terminal 1C
―  Position memory control module terminal 2O and power outer mirror (RH) terminal 1F
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the wiring harness which is shorted to ground, then go to Step9.
5
VERIFY IF MALFUNCTION CAUSE IS SHORT CIRCUIT TO GROUND IN WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN POSITION MEMORY CONTROL MODULE AND POWER OUTER MIRROR
•  Verify that the position memory control module and the power outer mirror connector are disconnected.
•  Inspect for continuity between the following terminals (vehicle wiring harness side) and body ground.
―  Position memory control module terminal 2S and power outer mirror (LH) terminal 1C
―  Position memory control module terminal 2U and power outer mirror (LH) terminal 1F
―  Position memory control module terminal 2M and power outer mirror (RH) terminal 1C
―  Position memory control module terminal 2O and power outer mirror (RH) terminal 1F
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness which has an open circuit, then go to Step 9.
No
Go to the next step.
6
INSPECT LEFT/RIGHT SELECTION SWITCH CIRCUIT
•  Switch the Left/Right selection switch position to RIGHT.
•  Inspect the wiring harness for continuity between the following terminals (vehicle wiring harness side).
―  Position memory control module terminal 2B and position memory control module terminal 2E
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Go to Step 9.
No
Go to the next step.
7
DETERMINE IF MALFUNCTION CAUSE IS POWER OUTER MIRROR SWITCH
•  Inspect the power outer mirror switch.
•  Is the power outer mirror switch normal?
Yes
There is an open circuit between the position memory control module and the power outer mirror switch.
Repair or replace the wiring harness which has an open circuit, then go to Step 9.
No
Replace the power outer mirror switch, then go to Step 9.
8
INSPECT POWER OUTER MIRROR
•  Inspect the power outer mirror.
•  Is the power outer mirror normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace the power outer mirror, then go to the next step.
9
VERIFY IF MALFUNCTION CAUSE IS CORRECTED
•  Has the malfunction symptom been eliminated?
Yes
Complete the symptom troubleshooting.(Explain repair contents to customer).
No
Repeat the diagnosis from Step 1.
If the malfunction has not been resolved, replace the position memory control module.
