Caution
-
• Do not depress the accelerator pedal and the brake pedal at the same time, or stop the vehicle on an upslope with the selector lever in the D position and rev the electric motor. Otherwise, the EV transaxle could overheat and malfunction.
• Unlike a normal transaxle, the EV transaxle used for the EV does not have a gear shifting function. The drive force is transmitted at a certain deceleration ratio and the switching between acceleration/deceleration and forward/reverse is performed by the electric motor output and controlling the rotation direction.
• The EV transaxle does not have clutch. This is because the electric motor generates the torque required for acceleration even from zero rotation speed.
• It is basically unnecessary to replace the ATF.*1
*1 :It may be necessary to replace the ATF if the vehicle is submerged in water due to flooding. For details, refer to the ATF replacement item in the workshop manual.
Function
• The EV transaxle converts the drive force (electric motor speed, torque) input from the electric motor and transmits it to the drive wheels.
• The EV transaxle transmits the drive force from the drive wheels to the electric motor for regenerative braking during deceleration.
• The parking lock mechanism is built into the EV transaxle. As a result, it prevents the vehicle from moving unexpectedly. This is a mechanism different from the parking brake.
