SHIFT POSITION RESTRICTIONS [A71M]

id0526a7000500

Purpose, Function

•  If the driver performs an inappropriate operation when accelerating from a standstill or driving, the vehicle restricts shift position switching to improve safety.
•  While the shift position restrictions are operating, a message is displayed on the multi-information display and a warning sound is activated to urge the driver to verify and shift to the proper shift position.

Operation

•  When the main power is switched ON (READY ON) and any of the following conditions is met, the shift position restrictions operate.

Driver's selector lever operation
Operation and driving conditions
Shift position restrictions operation
Estimated operation scenario*2
N position to D position
Or
N position to R position
All of the following conditions are met
•  Vehicle speed:0 km/h
•  Brake pedal is not depressed and inclination is certain value or less
•  During electric parking brake (EPB) or AUTOHOLD operation
N position is maintained
EPB is operated*1
The selector lever was operated without depressing the brake pedal when accelerating from a standstill
D position to R position
Or
R position to D position
Vehicle speed:Approx. 10 km/h or more
Switched to N position
The select lever was operated incorrectly while driving.
D position to P position
Or
R position to P position
Vehicle speed:Approx. 5 km/h or more
Switched to N position

*1  :The vehicle operates the EPB to prevent the vehicle from moving. However, if the vehicle moves because it is on a steep slope, the EPB and the shift position restrictions do not operate even if the operation conditions are met.
*2  :The operation scenario shown in the table is only an example. If the operation conditions are met in other scenarios, the shift position restrictions operate.
•  While the shift position restrictions are operating, a message is displayed on the multi-information display and a warning sound is activated from the notification and warning speaker. (See WARNING/INDICATION/ALARM [A71M])
•  For the transmission/reception destination of each information used for operation determination, refer to [SHIFT-BY-WIRE SYSTEM]. (See SHIFT-BY-WIRE SYSTEM [A71M])
