System malfunction location	Heat pump control unit configuration error
Detection condition	•  The heat pump control unit cannot receive the body control module (BCM) configuration data.
Fail-safe	•  Sets the configuration value to the following fixed value ―  Destination: North_America
Possible cause	Note •  To correctly write the configuration data, which is sent from the body control module (BCM) to the heat pump control unit, to the heat pump control unit, 30 s or more need to have elapsed since the main power was switched ON (READY off or on). •  Body control module (BCM) stores DTCs ―  Body control module (BCM) configuration not performed ―  Body control module (BCM) internal memory malfunction •  Body control module (BCM) configuration data error •  Configuration procedure was not completed properly •  Heat pump control unit removed from another vehicle is being used •  Heat pump control unit malfunction

Diagnostic Procedure

Step	Inspection	Results	Action
1	INSPECT FOR BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) RELATED MALFUNCTION •  Perform the DTC inspection for the body control module (BCM). (See DTC INSPECTION.) •  Is a DTC displayed?	Yes	Repair the malfunctioning part according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting. (See DTC TABLE [BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) (E)].)
		No	Go to the next step.
2	VERIFY HEAT PUMP CONTROL UNIT REPLACEMENT RECORD •  Verify if the heat pump control unit has been replaced before performing this troubleshooting procedure. •  Has the heat pump control unit been replaced?	Yes	Perform the procedure required for the heat pump control unit removal/installation according to the [HEAT PUMP CONTROL UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION] again, and then perform the repair completion verification. (See HEAT PUMP CONTROL UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [FULL-AUTO AIR CONDITIONER].)
		No	Go to the next step.
3	RESET CONFIGURATION DATA FOR BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) •  Perform the body control module (BCM) configuration using the M-MDS. (See CONFIGURATION.) •  Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (See CLEARING DTC.) •  Switch the main power ON (READY off or on) and wait 30 s or more. •  Perform the DTC inspection for the heat pump control unit. (See DTC INSPECTION.) •  Is the same DTC displayed?	Yes	Perform the body control module (BCM) configuration again, and then perform the repair completion verification.
		No	Go to repair completion verification 2.
Repair completion verification 1	VERIFY THAT VEHICLE IS REPAIRED •  Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (See CLEARING DTC.) •  Switch the main power ON (READY off or on) and wait 30 s or more. •  Perform the DTC inspection for the heat pump control unit. (See DTC INSPECTION.) •  Is the same DTC displayed?	Yes	Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error. (See CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN) MALFUNCTION DIAGNOSIS FLOW [L.H.D. (E)].) (See CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN) MALFUNCTION DIAGNOSIS FLOW [R.H.D.].) If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1. •  If the malfunction is not resolved, replace the heat pump control unit, then go to the next step. (See HEAT PUMP CONTROL UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [FULL-AUTO AIR CONDITIONER].)
		No	Go to the next step.
Repair completion verification 2	VERIFY IF OTHER DTCs ARE DISPLAYED •  Perform the DTC inspection. (See DTC INSPECTION.) •  Are other DTCs displayed?	Yes	Repair the malfunctioning part according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
		No	DTC troubleshooting completed.
