Actuator inspection

1.  Disconnect the negative lead-acid battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE LEAD-ACID BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

2.  Remove the air intake actuator. (See AIR INTAKE ACTUATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [FULL-AUTO AIR CONDITIONER].)

3.  Connect the air intake actuator connector.

4.  Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.

5.  Operate the air intake actuator using the simulation function. (See SIMULATION INSPECTION.) (See SIMULATION TABLE [DASH-ELECTRICAL SUPPLY UNIT].)

6.  Verify that the air intake actuator operation condition is as shown in the figure.

Caution
•  If the lever position exceeds the operation range shown in the figure, the circuit in the actuator could be damaged. Always perform an actuator operation inspection with the lever movement within the range shown in the figure.
•  If it does not operate as shown in the figure, replace the air intake actuator. (See AIR INTAKE ACTUATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [FULL-AUTO AIR CONDITIONER].)

Position sensor inspection

1.  Switch the main power ON (READY on).

2.  Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.

3.  Display PID “INTAKE_ACTAT_POS” using the M-MDS. (See PID/DATA MONITOR INSPECTION.) (See PID/DATA MONITOR TABLE [DASH-ELECTRICAL SUPPLY UNIT].)

4.  Operate the REC switch.

5.  Verify that the PID value conforms to the REC switch operation.

6.  If it cannot be verified, replace the air intake actuator. (See AIR INTAKE ACTUATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [FULL-AUTO AIR CONDITIONER].)
