id300201023100

Warning
<<High voltage>>
•  If the necessary measures are not taken before servicing an electric vehicle, it could cause electrical shock and result in serious injury or, in the worst case, death. Before servicing the electric vehicle, refer to [HIGH VOLTAGE SERVICE CAUTIONS] in the general information and implement the necessary measures. (See HIGH VOLTAGE SERVICE CAUTIONS.)

Outline

System malfunction location

Refrigerant pressure sensor No.2 system: A/D conversion input circuit malfunction or low pressure malfunction

―  Battery cooling refrigerant pressure sensor measured a pressure of less than −0.043 MPa {−0.44 kgf/cm2, −6.2 psi} for 1.5 s.
Fail-safe
•  Refer to "DTC Table" and "Fail-safe Function Malfunction Contents Table". (See DTC TABLE [BECM (e-SKYACTIV)].)
Possible cause
High voltage battery malfunction
•  Internal parts malfunction
•  Electric expansion valve malfunction

Diagnostic Procedure

Warning
<<High voltage>>
•  If necessary measures such as wearing the correct protective gear are not taken when inspecting or removing/installing the high voltage parts, it could cause electrical shock and result in serious injury or, in the worst case, death.
•  Before inspecting or removing/installing the high voltage parts, refer to [HIGH VOLTAGE SERVICE CAUTIONS] in the general information and [High Voltage Part Inspection and Removal/Installation Notes] of the high voltage system service cautions and implement the necessary measures and preparations. (See HIGH VOLTAGE SERVICE CAUTIONS.) (See HIGH VOLTAGE SYSTEM SERVICE CAUTIONS.)

Step

Inspection

Results

Action

1
RECORD VEHICLE STATUS WHEN DTC WAS DETECTED TO UTILIZE WITH REPEATABILITY VERIFICATION
•  Record the snapshot data.
Note
•  Recording can be facilitated using the screen capture function of the PC.
Go to the next step.
2
INSPECT REFRIGERANT PRESSURE SENSOR NO.2 FOR MALFUNCTION
•  Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.
•  Switch the main power ON (READY off).
•  Turn the A/C off.
•  Display the following BECM PIDs using the M-MDS.
―  HV_BATT_REFR_PRES
―  HV_BATT_OUT_REFR_TEMP
•  Wait until the HV_BATT_OUT_REFR_TEMP PID value is above −15 °C {5 °F}.
•  Verify the HV_BATT_REFR_PRES PID value.
•  Is the HV_BATT_REFR_PRES PID value below 0.55 MPa {5.6 kgf/cm2, 79 psi}?
Yes
Refer to the CAN (controller area network) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error.
If the CAN communication is normal, replace the high voltage battery and perform the repair completion verification 2.
No
Go to the next step.
3
PERFORM ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC FOR ELECTRIC EXPANSION VALVE (COOLING BATTERY)
•  Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.
•  Switch the main power ON (READY on).
•  Select the following menu and perform the on-board diagnostics for the electric expansion valve.
1.  Press [Start] to start the vehicle identification.
2.  Press the [Toolbox] tab.
3.  Press the [Work Support] icon.
4.  Press [EV].
5.  Press [Run] for Self-Diagnosing Air Conditioner control valves.
6.  Select [Expansion valve for cooling battery] and press [Next].
•  Is [Normal] displayed as the diagnosis result?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace the high voltage battery, then go to the repair completion verification 2.
4
PERFORM ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC FOR ELECTRIC EXPANSION VALVE (AIR CONDITIONER)
•  Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.
•  Switch the main power ON (READY on).
•  Select the following menu and perform the on-board diagnostics for the electric expansion valve.
1.  Press [Start] to start the vehicle identification
2.  Press the [Toolbox] tab.
3.  Press the [Work Support] icon.
4.  Press [EV].
5.  Press [Run] for Self-Diagnosing Air Conditioner control valves.
6.  Select [Expansion valve for cabin side] and press [Next].
•  Is [Normal] displayed as the diagnosis result?
Yes
Perform malfunction diagnosis according to the symptom troubleshooting for [AIR FROM VENTS NOT COLD ENOUGH] of the climate control system.
No
Replace the heat pump valve component No.1, then go to the repair completion verification 1.
Repair completion verification 1
PERFORM DTC INSPECTION AND VERIFY IF MALFUNCTIONING PART IS HIGH VOLTAGE BATTERY
•  Clear the DTC recorded in the memory.
•  Replicate the vehicle conditions at the time the DTC was detected using the following procedure.
Warning
•  When the M-MDS is used to observe monitor system status while driving, be sure to have another technician with you, or record the data in the M-MDS using the PID/DATA MONITOR AND RECORD capturing function and inspect later.
•  While performing this step, always operate the vehicle in a safe and lawful manner.
―  Drive the vehicle under the snapshot data condition for 2 s or more.
•  Perform the DTC inspection for the BECM.
•  Is the same Pending DTC present?
Yes
Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error.
If the CAN communication is normal, replace the high voltage battery and perform the repair completion verification 2.
No
Go to the next step.
Repair completion verification 2
VERIFY IF OTHER DTCs DISPLAYED
•  Perform the DTC inspection.
•  Are any other DTCs displayed?
Yes
Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
