Caution
•  If foreign matter such as metal shaving adhere to the CKP sensor, it can cause abnormal output from the sensor because of flux turbulence, which can negatively affect the engine control. Verify that there is no foreign matter on the CKP sensor when replacing.
•  When replacing the CKP sensor with a new one, perform the CKP sensor learning value clearing procedure to clear the learning value stored in the PCM. If the stored learning value is not cleared, the engine performance may not function at its full capability. (See CKP Sensor Learning Value Clearing Procedure.)

1.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

2.  Lift up the vehicle.

3.  Front splash shield (RH) (See SPLASH SHIELD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4.  Disconnect the CKP sensor connector.

5.  Remove the clip.

6.  Remove the CKP sensor.

7.  Install in the reverse order of removal.


CKP Sensor Learning Value Clearing Procedure

1.  Shift the selector lever to the P position.

2.  Perform the following procedure within 10 s.

(1)  Switch the ignition ON (engine off).
(2)  Fully depress the accelerator pedal.
(3)  Release and depress the brake pedal 5 times with the accelerator pedal depressed.

3.  Verify that the wrench indicator light turns on for approx. 3 s and turns off.

•  If the wrench indicator light does not turn on, repeat the procedure from Step 1.
