NOTIFICATION AND WARNING SPEAKER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

Warning

•  Handling the air bag module improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag module, which may seriously injure you. Read the SRS air bag system service warnings and cautions before handling the air bag module. (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM].) Note

•  When removing the lower column cover, it is necessary to rotate the steering wheel.

•  If any door is opened/closed with the ignition switched OFF, the steering wheel will lock. Perform the procedure from Steps 1-3 so that the steering wheel will not be locked.

Front

1.  Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).

2.  Open the front driver-side door.

3.  Switch the ignition off.

4.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

5.  Remove the lower column cover. (See COLUMN COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.).

6.  Remove the screws.

7.  Remove the notification/alarm sound speaker from the column cover.

8.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

Rear

1.  Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).

2.  Open the front driver-side door.

3.  Switch the ignition off.

4.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

5.  Remove the following parts.

(1)  Rear wiper arm and blade (See REAR WIPER ARM AND BLADE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(2)  Liftgate upper trim (See LIFTGATE UPPER TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(3)  Liftgate side trim (See LIFTGATE SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(4)  Liftgate recess (See LIFTGATE RECESS REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(5)  Door lock switch (liftgate) (With door lock switch (liftgate)) (See DOOR LOCK SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(6)  Liftgate lower trim (See LIFTGATE LOWER TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(7)  Rear wiper motor (See REAR WIPER MOTOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

6.  Remove the bolts. (See Bolt Installation Note.)

7.  Remove the notification and warning speaker.

8.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

Bolt Installation Note

1.  Temporarily tighten bolt A.

2.  Temporarily tighten bolt B.

3.  Completely tighten bolt A.

4.  Completely tighten bolt B.
