BONNET REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

Warning
•  Removing the bonnet without proper support can be dangerous. The bonnet may fall and injure you. Always perform the following procedure with at least another person.
•  Always perform the procedure with at least one other person so that the bonnet does not tilt. If the bonnet is opened after the active bonnet has deployed, one side of the bonnet side may tilt and cause injury.
•  After the active bonnet has deployed, always newly replace the parts indicated in the active bonnet service warnings in the section dealing with the active bonnet. If the vehicle is driven without part replacement, the active bonnet may not deploy correctly. (See ACTIVE BONNET SERVICE WARNINGS.)
Caution
•  Always perform the procedure with at least one other person so that the bonnet does not tilt. If the bonnet is opened after the active bonnet has been deployed, one side of the bonnet may contact the vehicle body such as the front fender panel and cause damage.

1.  Disconnect the negative battery cable. (SeeBATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L8, LF].)

2.  To remove the bonnet hinge, remove the following parts:

(1)  Front bumper (See FRONT BUMPER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(2)  Front combination lights (See FRONT COMBINATION LIGHT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(3)  Side step molding (SeeSIDE STEP MOLDING REMOVAL.) (SeeSIDE STEP MOLDING INSTALLATION.)
(4)  Front fender panel (See FRONT FENDER PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

Caution
•  If a different type of metal such as iron contacts the aluminum panel (aluminum), it could corrode the aluminum. Use exclusive surface finished bolts for the aluminum panel installation.

3.  Remove in the order indicated in the table.

4.  Install in the reverse order of removal.
