ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 1.5, SKYACTIV-G 2.0]

Warning

•  A hot engine can cause severe burns. Turn off the engine and wait until it is cool before removing the ECT sensor.

1.  Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

2.  Drain the engine coolant. (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT [SKYACTIV-G 1.5, SKYACTIV-G 2.0].)

3.  Disconnect the ECT sensor connector.

4.  Remove the ECT sensor using the SST.

5.  Install the ECT sensor using the SST.

6.  Connect the ECT sensor connector.

7.  Connect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

8.  Refill the engine coolant. (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT [SKYACTIV-G 1.5, SKYACTIV-G 2.0].)
