DETECTION CONDITION

•  Vehicle condition: Constantly

•  Status: ATF temperature 110°C {230 °F} or more detected

•  Period: Confirmed 1 time in 1 s or more

FAIL-SAFE FUNCTION

•  Inhibits the i-stop control.

POSSIBLE CAUSE

•  Vehicle high-load driving (driving on steep uphill at low speed)

•  ATF deterioration

•  TCM malfunction

VERIFY RELATED SERVICE INFORMATION AVAILABILITY

•  Verify related Service Information availability.

•  Is any related Service Information available?

Yes

Perform repair or diagnosis according to the available Service Information.

•  If the vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.

No

Go to the next step.

VERIFY ATF TEMPERATURE

•  Display PID TFT using the M-MDS.
(See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM PID/DATA MONITOR INSPECTION [TCM (SJ6A-EL)].)

•  Is the ATF temperature less than 110 °C {230 °F}?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Park the vehicle in the shade to decrease the ATF temperature, then go to the next step.

INSPECT ATF CONDITION

•  Switch the ignition off.

•  Inspect the ATF.

―  Clear red: Normal

―  Light red: Liquid is mixed with water

―  Red brown: ATF deterioration

•  Is the ATF normal?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Replace the ATF, then go to the next step.

VERIFY SAME DTC IS NOT PRESENT

•  Clear DTC for the TCM using the M-MDS.
(See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM DTC INSPECTION [TCM (SJ6A-EL)].)

•  Perform the DTC inspection for the TCM using the M-MDS.
(See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM DTC INSPECTION [TCM (SJ6A-EL)].)

•  Is the same DTC present?

Yes

Repeat the inspection from Step 1.

If the malfunction recurs, replace the TCM, then go to the next step.

No

Go to the next step.

VERIFY DTC TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED

•  Clear the DTC using the M-MDS.

•  Perform the DTC inspection using the M-MDS.

•  Are any DTCs present?

Yes

Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.

No

3		No	Park the vehicle in the shade to decrease the ATF temperature, then go to the next step.
4	INSPECT ATF CONDITION • Switch the ignition off. • Inspect the ATF. ― Clear red: Normal ― Light red: Liquid is mixed with water ― Red brown: ATF deterioration • Is the ATF normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
4		No	Replace the ATF, then go to the next step. (See AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID (ATF) REPLACEMENT [SJ6A-EL].)
5	VERIFY SAME DTC IS NOT PRESENT • Clear DTC for the TCM using the M-MDS. (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM DTC INSPECTION [TCM (SJ6A-EL)].) • Perform the DTC inspection for the TCM using the M-MDS. (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM DTC INSPECTION [TCM (SJ6A-EL)].) • Is the same DTC present?	Yes	Repeat the inspection from Step 1. If the malfunction recurs, replace the TCM, then go to the next step. (See TCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SJ6A-EL].)
5		No	Go to the next step.
