STEERING WHEEL COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

Warning
•  Handling the driver-side air bag module improperly can accidentally deploy the air bag module, which may seriously injure you. Read the air bag system service warnings and cautions before handling the air bag module. (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS.) (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE CAUTIONS.)

1.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

2.  Remove the driver-side air bag module. (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL.) (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE INSTALLATION.)

3.  Remove the steering wheel. (See STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4.  Remove the steering shift switch. (With steering shift switch) (See STEERING SHIFT SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SJ6A-EL].)

5.  Using a tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver, press tabs A of the steering wheel cover in the direction of the arrows shown in the figure to detach tabs A from the steering wheel.

6.  Pull the part of the steering wheel cover near tabs B in the order of (1), (2), (3) and detach them.

7.  Remove the steering wheel cover from the steering wheel. (See Steering Wheel Cover Installation Note.)

8.  Remove the wiring harnesses and clips of the steering shift switch from the steering wheel cover. (With steering shift switch) (See STEERING SHIFT SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SJ6A-EL].)

9.  Install in the reverse order of removal.


Steering Wheel Cover Installation Note

1.  Align the positioning pin of the steering wheel cover with the steering wheel holes as shown in the figure and install the steering wheel cover.
