|
• The electrical supply unit (ESU) detects a short to ground in the parking light (RH), taillight (LH) or license plate light (LH)/(RH) circuit.

• License plate light bulb (LH) malfunction
• License plate light bulb (RH) malfunction
• License plate light (LH) connector or terminal malfunction
• License plate light (RH) connector or terminal malfunction
• Rear combination light (LH) connector or terminal malfunction
• Short to ground in wiring harness between the following terminals:
• Rear combination light (LH) malfunction
• Electrical supply unit (ESU) malfunction

DETERMINE MALFUNCTIONING LIGHT
• Operate the light switch to the TNS (parking lights) position.
• Are there any lights among the following which are not illuminated?

Yes
|
If all lights do not turn on:
• Go to the next step.
If parking light (RH) does not turn on:
• Go to Step 3.
If taillight (LH) and license plate light (LH)/(RH) do not turn on:
• Go to Step 7.

No

Go to Step 15.

INSPECT ELECTRICAL SUPPLY UNIT (ESU) CONNECTOR CONDITION
• Switch the ignition off.
• Disconnect the negative battery cable.
• Disconnect the electrical supply unit (ESU) connector.
• Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.
• Is the connector normal?

Yes
|
Go to Step 15.
|
No
|
Repair or replace the connector, then go to Step 15.
|

INSPECT FRONT COMBINATION LIGHT (RH) CONNECTOR CONDITION
• Switch the ignition off.
• Disconnect the negative battery cable.
• Disconnect the front combination light (RH) connector.
• Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.
• Is the connector normal?

Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Repair or replace the connector, then go to Step 15.
|

INSPECT ELECTRICAL SUPPLY UNIT (ESU) CONNECTOR CONDITION
• Disconnect the electrical supply unit (ESU) connector.
• Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.
• Is the connector normal?

Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Repair or replace the connector, then go to Step 15.
|

INSPECT PARKING LIGHT (RH) CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND
• Verify that the front combination light (RH) and electrical supply unit (ESU) connectors are disconnected.
• Inspect for continuity between front combination light (RH) terminal D (wiring harness-side) and body ground.
• Is there continuity?

Yes
|
Refer to the wiring diagram and verify whether or not there is a common connector between front combination light (RH) terminal D and electrical supply unit (ESU) terminal 4G.
If there is a common connector:
• Determine the malfunctioning part by inspecting the common connector and the terminal for corrosion, damage, or pin disconnection, and the common wiring harness for a short to ground.
• Repair or replace the malfunctioning part.
If there is no common connector:
• Repair or replace the wiring harness which has a short to ground.
Go to Step 15.

Go to the next step.

VERIFY IF MALFUNCTIONING LOCATION IS FRONT COMBINATION LIGHT (RH) DEPENDING ON REPEATABILITY
• Always reconnect all disconnected connectors.
• Connect the negative battery cable.
• Clear the DTC for the electrical supply unit (ESU) using the M-MDS.
• Operate the light switch to the TNS (parking lights) position.
• Retrieve the electrical supply unit (ESU) DTCs using the M-MDS.
• Is the same DTC displayed?

Yes
|
Replace the front combination light (RH), then go to Step 15.
|
No
|
Go to Step 16.
|

VISUALLY INSPECT LISENCE PLATE LIGHT (LH)
• Visually inspect the license plate light bulb (LH).
• Is the license plate light bulb (LH) normal?
|
Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Replace the license plate light bulb (LH), then go to Step 15.
|

VISUALLY INSPECT LISENCE PLATE LIGHT (RH)
• Visually inspect the license plate light bulb (RH).
• Is the license plate light bulb (RH) normal?
|
Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Replace the license plate light bulb (RH), then go to Step 15.
|

INSPECT LISENCE PLATE LIGHT (LH) CONNECTOR CONDITION
• Switch the ignition off.
• Disconnect the negative battery cable.
• Disconnect the license plate light (LH) connector.
• Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.
• Is the connector normal?

Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Repair or replace the connector, then go to Step 15.

INSPECT LISENCE PLATE LIGHT (RH) CONNECTOR CONDITION
• Disconnect the license plate light (RH) connector.
• Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.
• Is the connector normal?

Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Repair or replace the connector, then go to Step 15.
|

INSPECT REAR COMBINATION LIGHT (LH) CONNECTOR CONDITION
• Disconnect the rear combination light (LH) connector.
• Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.
• Is the connector normal?

Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Repair or replace the connector, then go to Step 15.
|

INSPECT ELECTRICAL SUPPLY UNIT (ESU) CONNECTOR CONDITION
• Disconnect the electrical supply unit (ESU) connector.
• Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.
• Is the connector normal?

Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Repair or replace the connector, then go to Step 15.

INSPECT TAILLIGHT (LH) AND LICENSE PLATE LIGHT (LH)/(RH) CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND
• Verify that the license plate light (LH)/(RH), rear combination light (LH) and electrical supply unit (ESU) connectors are disconnected.
• Inspect for continuity between the following terminals (wiring harness-side) and body ground:
• Is there continuity?

Yes
|
Refer to the wiring diagram and verify whether or not there is a common connector between following terminals:
• Rear combination light (LH) terminal C—Electrical supply unit (ESU) terminal 1D
• License plate light (LH) terminal A—Electrical supply unit (ESU) terminal 1D
• License plate light (RH) terminal A—Electrical supply unit (ESU) terminal 1D
If there is a common connector:
• Determine the malfunctioning part by inspecting the common connector and the terminal for corrosion, damage, or pin disconnection, and the common wiring harness for a short to ground.
• Repair or replace the malfunctioning part.
If there is no common connector:
• Repair or replace the wiring harness which has a short to ground.
Go to Step 15.

VERIFY IF MALFUNCTIONING LOCATION IS REAR COMBINATION LIGHT (LH) DEPENDING ON REPEATABILITY
• Always reconnect all disconnected connectors.
• Connect the negative battery cable.
• Clear the DTC for the electrical supply unit (ESU) using the M-MDS.
• Operate the light switch to the TNS (parking lights) position.
• Retrieve the electrical supply unit (ESU) DTCs using the M-MDS.
• Is the same DTC displayed?

Yes
|
Replace the rear combination light (LH), then go to the next step.
|
No
|
Go to Step 16.
|

VERIFY THAT REPAIRS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED
• Always reconnect all disconnected connectors.
• Connect the negative battery cable.
• Clear the DTC for the electrical supply unit (ESU) using the M-MDS.
• Operate the light switch to the TNS (parking lights) position.
• Retrieve the electrical supply unit (ESU) DTCs using the M-MDS.
• Is the same DTC displayed?

Yes
|
Repeat the inspection from Step 1.
• If the malfunction recurs, replace the electrical supply unit (ESU).
Go to the next step.

No
|
Go to the next step.

VERIFY IF OTHER DTCs DISPLAYED
• Are any other DTCs displayed?
|
Yes
|
Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.

No
