DRIVE BELT AUTO TENSIONER INSPECTION [L8, LF]

1.  Remove the battery and battery tray. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L8, LF].)

2.  Remove the drive belt. (See DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT [L8, LF].)

Note

•  Use a mirror to see the position of the drive belt auto tensioner indicator mark.

3.  Verify that the drive belt auto tensioner moves smoothly in the operational direction.

•  Replace the drive belt auto tensioner if necessary. (See ENGINE DISASSEMBLY/ASSEMBLY [L8, LF].)

4.  Turn the drive belt auto tensioner pulley by hand and verify that it rotates smoothly.

•  Replace the drive belt auto tensioner if necessary. (See ENGINE DISASSEMBLY/ASSEMBLY [L8, LF].)

5.  Install the drive belt. (See DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT [L8, LF].)

6.  Install the battery and battery tray. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L8, LF].)
