A/F sensor signal stuck lean

DETECTION CONDITION

•  The PCM monitors the A/F sensor output current when the following conditions are met. If the input is 1.15 or more for 25 s, the PCM determines that the A/F sensor signal remains lean.

MONITORING CONDITIONS

―  ECT: 70 °C {158 °F} or more

―  Engine speed: 1,000—3,200 rpm

―  MAF amount: 6—80 g/s {0.80—10.58 lb/min}

―  Target A/F feedback system status: feedback control

―  Output voltage from the HO2S: 0.8 V or more

Diagnostic support note

•  This is an intermittent monitor (A/F sensor, HO2S).

•  The MIL illuminates if the PCM detects the above malfunctioning condition in two consecutive drive cycles or in one drive cycle while the DTC for the same malfunction has been stored in the PCM.

•  PENDING CODE is available if PCM detects the above malfunction conditions during first drive cycle.

•  FREEZE FRAME DATA (Mode 2)/Snapshot data is available.

•  The DTC is stored in the PCM memory.

Diagnostic procedure

STEP	INSPECTION		ACTION
1	IDENTIFY TRIGGER DTC FOR FREEZE FRAME DATA (MODE 2) • Is the DTC P2195:00 on FREEZE FRAME DATA (Mode 2)?	Yes	Go to the next step.
1		No	Go to the troubleshooting procedures for DTC on FREEZE FRAME DATA (Mode 2). (See DTC TABLE [ZJ, ZY].)
2	VERIFY FREEZE FRAME DATA (MODE 2)/SNAPSHOT DATA AND DIAGNOSTIC MONITORING TEST RESULTS HAVE BEEN RECORDED • Have the FREEZE FRAME DATA (Mode 2)/snapshot data and DIAGNOSTIC MONITORING TEST RESULTS (A/F sensor, HO2S related) been recorded?	Yes	Go to the next step.
2		No	Record the FREEZE FRAME DATA (Mode 2)/snapshot data and DIAGNOSTIC MONITORING TEST RESULTS on the repair order, then go to the next step.
3	VERIFY RELATED SERVICE INFORMATION AVAILABILITY • Verify related Service Information availability. • Is any related Service Information available?	Yes	Perform repair or diagnosis according to the available Service Information. • If the vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.
3		No	Go to the next step.
4	VERIFY RELATED PENDING CODE AND STORED DTC • Turn the ignition switch off, then to the ON position (engine off). • Verify the related PENDING CODE and stored DTCs using the M-MDS. (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC TEST [ZJ, ZY].) • Is the DTC P2177:00 or P2187:00 also present?	Yes	Go to the applicable DTC inspection. (See DTC P2177:00 [ZJ, ZY].) (See DTC P2187:00 [ZJ, ZY].)
4		No	Go to the next step.
5	INSPECT A/F SENSOR • Inspect the A/F sensor. (See AIR FUEL RATIO (A/F) SENSOR INSPECTION [ZJ, ZY].) • Is there any malfunction?	Yes	Replace the A/F sensor, then go to the next step. (See AIR FUEL RATIO (A/F) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [ZJ, ZY].)
5		No	Go to the next step.
6	VERIFY DTC TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED • Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors. • Clear the DTC from the PCM memory using the M-MDS. (See AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE [ZJ, ZY].) • Drive the vehicle in the MONITORING CONDITIONS. • Perform the Pending Trouble Code Access Procedure. (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC TEST [ZJ, ZY].) • Is the PENDING CODE for this DTC present?	Yes	Replace the PCM, then go to the next step. (See PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [ZJ, ZY].)
6		No	Go to the next step.
7	VERIFY AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE • Perform the “AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE”. (See AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE [ZJ, ZY].) • Are any DTCs present?	Yes	Go to the applicable DTC inspection. (See DTC TABLE [ZJ, ZY].)
7		No	DTC troubleshooting completed.
