COMPRESSION INSPECTION [MZ-CD 1.4 DI Turbo]

Warning

•  Hot engines can cause severe burns. Be careful not to burn yourself during removal/installation of each component.

•  Fuel vapor is hazardous. It can very easily ignite, causing serious injury and damage. Always keep sparks and flames away from fuel.

•  Fuel line spills and leakage are dangerous. Fuel can ignite and cause serious injuries or death and damage. Fuel can also irritate skin and eyes. To prevent this, always complete the “Fuel Line Safety Procedure” when servicing the fuel system. (See BEFORE SERVICE PRECAUTION [MZ-CD 1.4 DI Turbo].)

1.  Verify that the battery is fully charged. (See BATTERY INSPECTION [MZ-CD 1.4 DI Turbo].)

2.  Warm up the engine to the normal operating temperature.

3.  Remove the windshield wiper arm and blade. (See WINDSHIELD WIPER ARM AND BLADE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4.  Remove the cowl grille. (See COWL GRILLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

5.  Remove the cowl panel. (See COWL PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

6.  Remove the engine cover.

7.  Remove the air cleaner and air hose No.1. (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZ-CD 1.4 DI Turbo].)

8.  Set the EGR pipe out of the way. (See EGR VALVE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZ-CD 1.4 DI Turbo].)

9.  Remove the glow plug relay.

10.  Disconnect the fuel pressure sensor / glow plug / fuel injector connector.

11.  Remove the glow plug. (See GLOW PLUG REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZ-CD 1.4 DI Turbo].)

12.  Install the SSTs (303-1052 (49 JE02 051), 49 D013 101) to the glow plug hole securely.

13.  Connect the SST (49 S010 1A0A) to SST (49 D013 101).

14.  Crank the engine and measure the compression pressure.

15.  Measure the compression pressure for all cylinders.

16.  Remove the SSTs.

17.  Install the glow plug. (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZ-CD 1.4 DI Turbo].)

18.  Connect the fuel pressure sensor / glow plug / fuel injector connector.

19.  Install the glow plug relay.

20.  Install the EGR pipe. (See EGR VALVE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZ-CD 1.4 DI Turbo].)

21.  Install the air cleaner and air hose No.1. (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZ-CD 1.4 DI Turbo].)

22.  Install the engine cover.

23.  Install the cowl panel. (See COWL PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

24.  Install the cowl grille. (See COWL GRILLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

25.  Install the windshield wiper arm and blade. (See WINDSHIELD WIPER ARM AND BLADE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
