OIL PUMP REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZ-CD 1.4 DI Turbo]

Warning
•  Hot engines and engine oil can cause severe burns. Turn off the engine and wait until it and the engine oil have cooled.
•  A vehicle that is lifted but not securely supported on safety stands is dangerous. It can slip or fall, causing death or serious injury. Never work around or under a lifted vehicle if it is not securely supported on safety stands.
•  Continuous exposure to USED engine oil has caused skin cancer in laboratory mice. Protect your skin by washing with soap and water immediately after working with engine oil.

1.  Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2.  Drain the engine oil. (See ENGINE OIL REPLACEMENT [MZ-CD 1.4 DI Turbo].)

3.  Remove the engine cover.

4.  Remove the drive belt. (See DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT [MZ-CD 1.4 DI Turbo].)

5.  Remove the coolant reserve tank with the hoses still connected.

6.  Remove the wiring harness and wiring harness bracket.

7.  Set the cooler pipe out of the way (With A/C). (See REFRIGERANT LINE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

8.  Remove the timing belt. (See TIMING BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZ-CD 1.4 DI Turbo].)

9.  Install the No.3 engine mount bracket and No. 3 engine mount rubber. (See TIMING BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZ-CD 1.4 DI Turbo].)

10.  Remove the oil pan. (See OIL PAN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZ-CD 1.4 DI Turbo].)

11.  Remove the CKP sensor. (See CRANKSHAFT POSITION (CKP) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZ-CD 1.4 DI Turbo].)

12.  Remove in the order indicated in the table.

13.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

14.  Refill with the specified type and amount of the engine oil. (See ENGINE OIL REPLACEMENT [MZ-CD 1.4 DI Turbo].)

15.  Start the engine and confirm that there is no oil leakage.

•   If there is oil leakage, repair or replace the applicable part.

16.  Inspect the oil level. (See ENGINE OIL LEVEL INSPECTION [MZ-CD 1.4 DI Turbo].)

Oil Pump Installation Note

Caution
•  Make sure that the sealer does not enter the lower crankcase and the cylinder block blind holes. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the engine.
•  Install the oil pump before the applied silicone sealant starts to harden.
•  Using bolts with the old seal adhering could cause cracks in the housing.

1.  Clean the mating faces of the lower crankcase and the cylinder block with Loctite 7070 or equivalent.

2.  When reusing oil pump installation bolts, clean any old sealant from the bolts.

3.  Apply silicone sealant to the cylinder block and the lower crankcase as shown in the figure.

Note
•  A new oil pump is supplied with an oil seal alignment sleeve that must be removed following installation.

4.  Install the oil pump.

Tightening torque
10 N·m {102 kgf·cm, 89 in·lbf}

5.  Discard the alignment sleeve.
