ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [ZJ, ZY]

1.  Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2.  Remove the battery. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [ZJ, ZY].)

3.  Drain the engine coolant. (See ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [ZJ, ZY].)

4.  Remove the ECT sensor using the SST.

5.  Replace the gasket.

6.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

ECT sensor tightening torque
16—23 N·m {1.7—2.3 kgf·m, 12—16 ft·lbf}
