MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE (MAP) SENSOR INSPECTION [ZJ, ZY]

Note
•  Because the output voltage varies depending on the barometric pressure conditions where the vehicle is driven, determination of the manifold absolute pressure sensor integrity is done based on the amount of change in output voltage.

Sensor Output Value Inspection

1.  Remove the MAP sensor with the connector still connected.

2.  Remove the vacuum hose of the MAP sensor.

3.  Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

4.  Inspect the following items using the PID/DATA monitor function. (See PCM INSPECTION [ZJ, ZY].)

•  If not as specified, replace the MAP sensor. (See MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE (MAP) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [ZJ, ZY].)

5.  Install the vacuum pump.

6.  Apply 30 kPa vacuum to the manifold absolute pressure sensor.

7.  Determine the change in the amount of output voltage of the following monitor items using the PID/DATA monitor function.

(See PCM INSPECTION [ZJ, ZY].)

•  If not as specified, replace the MAP sensor. (See MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE (MAP) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [ZJ, ZY].)
