TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
• Steering gear and linkage malfunction.
• EPS control module malfunction.
• Poor connection of EPS control module connector, terminal damage.
• The EPS steering angle calibration has not been completed correctly.

• Have DTCs been recorded in the memory?

Yes
|
Perform inspection using the appropriate DTC.

No
|
Go to the next step.

• Set the steering wheel in the straight ahead position.
• Use the EPS data monitor function “STEER_ANGL” with the M-MDS to inspect the steering angle.
• Is the steering angle within -5 to 5 degrees?
|
Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Perform the EPS steering angle calibration using the M-MDS.
If the malfunction is not eliminated even after performing the EPS steering angle calibration, go to the next step.

• Inspect the connection of the EPS control module connector (1-pin, 1-pin, 6-pin).
• Disconnect the EPS control module connector.
• Inspect both the EPS control module and wiring harness-side connector for poor connection (such as damage/pulled-out pins, corrosion).
• Are all the pins normal?

Yes
|
Replace the steering gear and linkage.
|
No
|
If poor connection of EPS control module connector:
• Securely connect the EPS control module connector.
If the EPS control module side connector is wrong:
• Replace the steering column.
If the wiring harness-side connector is wrong:
• Repair or replace the pins and/or the connector.
• Recheck malfunction symptoms, then replace the steering gear and linkage.
