Detection Condition

•  Communication error between theft-deterrent siren and theft-deterrent control module

Possible Causes

•  Open or short circuit to wiring harness between theft-deterrent siren and theft-deterrent control module
•  Theft-deterrent siren malfunction
•  Theft-deterrent control module malfunction

INSPECT THEFT-DETERRENT SIREN CONNECTOR
•  Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
•  Disconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Disconnect the theft-deterrent siren connector.
•  Inspect the theft-deterrent siren connector. (Corrosion, damage, and disconnected pins)
•  Are the connector and terminals normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair/replace the theft-deterrent siren connector or terminal.

INSPECT THEFT-DETERRENT CONTROL MODULE CONNECTOR
•  Disconnect the theft-deterrent control module connector.
•  Inspect the theft-deterrent control module connector. (Corrosion, damage, and disconnected pins)
•  Are the connector and terminals normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair/replace the theft-deterrent control module connector or terminal.

INSPECT WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN THEFT-DETERRENT SIREN AND THEFT-DETERRENT CONTROL MODULE
•  Inspect the wiring harness between theft-deterrent siren connector terminal B and theft-deterrent control module connector terminal C for the following:
―  Short to body ground
―  Short to power supply
―  Open circuit
•  Is the wiring harness normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the wiring harness between the theft-deterrent siren and the theft-deterrent control module.

INSPECT THEFT-DETERRENT SIREN
•  Reconnect the disconnected connectors.
•  Connect the negative battery cable.
•  Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
•  Inspect the theft-deterrent siren.
•  Is the theft-deterrent siren normal?
Yes
Replace the theft-deterrent siren, then go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT DTCs
•  Clear DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Verify DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Is DTC B10A5:87 displayed again?
Yes
Replace the theft-deterrent system control module.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
