MASS AIR FLOW (MAF) SENSOR INSPECTION [MZR 1.3, MZR 1.5]

Note
•  The MAF sensor and IAT sensor cannot be removed as a single unit. When replacing the MAF sensor or IAT sensor, replace it together with the MAF/IAT sensor as a single unit.

Visual Inspection

1.  Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 1.3, MZR 1.5].)

2.  Disconnect the MAF/IAT sensor connector.

3.  Remove the MAF/IAT sensor. (See MASS AIR FLOW (MAF)/INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE (IAT) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 1.3, MZR 1.5].)

4.  Visually inspect the MAF sensor for the following:

•  Dirt, damage, cracks
•  Rusted sensor terminal
•  Bent sensor terminal
―  If there is any malfunction, replace the MAF/IAT sensor. (See MASS AIR FLOW (MAF)/INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE (IAT) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 1.3, MZR 1.5].)


Voltage Inspection

1.  Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.

2.  Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

3.  Verify that the MAF sensor output voltage (PID: MAF) within the specification. (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC TEST [MZR 1.3, MZR 1.5].) (See PCM INSPECTION [MZR 1.3, MZR 1.5].)
