1
Any of the following lights do not illuminate when the ignition switch is turned to the ON position: (ABS warning light, BRAKE system warning light, DSC indicator light and/or DSC OFF light).
Possible cause
•  DSC CM does not operate.
•  Communication error between DSC CM and instrument cluster.
•  Instrument cluster malfunction

Diagnostic procedure

STEP

INSPECTION

ACTION

1
INSPECT FOR DTCS IN DSC CM
•  Connect the M-MDS to DLC-2.
•  Retrieve the DSC CM DTC.
•  Is the DTC U3000:47, U3000:48 or U3000:49 displayed?
Yes
Go to applicable DTC troubleshooting procedure.
No
Go to the next step.
2
VERIFY IF MALFUNCTION IS IN WARNING LIGHTS AND INDICATOR LIGHT’S COMMON POWER SUPPLY, OR IN OTHER WARNING LIGHTS AND INDICATOR LIGHTS
•  Do other warning and indicator lights illuminate when the ignition switch is turned ON?
Yes
Go to applicable DTC troubleshooting procedure.
No
Go to the next step.
3
INSPECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER POWER SUPPLY FUSE
•  Is instrument cluster ignition power supply fuse normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Inspect fir short to GND on circuit of blown fuse.
Repair or replace as necessary.
Install appropriate amperage fuse.
4*
VERIFY IF MALFUNCTION IS IN WIRING HARNESS (BETWEEN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER POWER SUPPLY AND INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FOR CONTINUITY) OR ELSEWHERE
•  Turn ignition switch to ON position.
•  Measure voltage at instrument cluster.
•  Is voltage approx. 12 V?
Yes
Replace instrument cluster.
(Open circuit in instrument cluster.)
No
Inspect for open circuit between instrument cluster and GND.
Repair or replace as necessary.

•  When performing an asterisked (*) troubleshooting inspection, shake the wiring harness and connectors while doing the inspection to discover whether poor contact points are the cause of any intermittent malfunction. If there is a problem, inspect to make sure connectors, terminals and wiring harnesses are connected correctly and undamaged.
