CLUTCH UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [B65M-R]

Caution
•  When newly replacing the clutch cover or the clutch disc, replace the clutch cover and the clutch disc as a set.

1.  Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZ-CD 1.6].)

2.  Remove the engine cover. (See ENGINE COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZ-CD 1.6].)

3.  Remove the battery and battery tray. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZ-CD 1.6].)

4.  Remove the wheels and tires. (See GENERAL PROCEDURES (FRONT AND REAR AXLES).)

5.  Remove air hose and air cleaner component. (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZ-CD 1.6].)

6.  Remove the hanger rubber from the exhaust pipe shown in the figure to remove the transaxle installation bolts.

7.  Remove the manual transaxle. (See MANUAL TRANSAXLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [B65M-R].)

8.  Remove in the order indicated in the table.

9.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

Note
•  If the transaxle is overhauled and installed to the vehicle, perform the "INSPECTION AFTER TRANSAXLE INSTALLATION" and verify that there is no abnormality. (See INSPECTION AFTER TRANSAXLE INSTALLATION [B65M-R] .)

Clutch Cover and Clutch Disc Removal Note

1.  Lock the flywheel using the SST.

•  Rotate the crankshaft until the SST aligns with one of the slots in the flywheel.

2.  Remove the clutch cover and clutch disc.

Flywheel Removal Note

1.  Lock the flywheel using the SST.

•  Rotate the crankshaft until the SST aligns with one of the slots in the flywheel.

2.  Loosen the lock bolts uniformly and gradually in the order shown in the figure, and remove them.

3.  Remove the flywheel.

4.  Inspect for oil leakage from the crankshaft rear oil seal.

•  If there is any malfunction, replace the crankshaft rear oil seal. (See REAR OIL SEAL REPLACEMENT [MZ-CD 1.6].)


Flywheel Installation Note

1.  Clean the crankshaft thread holes before installing the new flywheel lockbolts.

2.  Install the flywheel to the crankshaft.

3.  Hand-tighten the flywheel lockbolts.

4.  Lock the flywheel using the SST.

•  Rotate the crankshaft until the SST aligns with one of the slots in the flywheel.

5.  Tighten the lock bolts in the order shown in the figure to the specified angle.

Tightening torque
18 N·m {1.8 kgf·m, 13 ft·lbf}+75°


Clutch Cover and Clutch Disc Installation Note

1.  Assemble the clutch cover and clutch disc, and install the SST as shown in the figure.

2.  Install the clutch cover and clutch disc to the flywheel with the SST installed.

3.  Tighten the bolts evenly and gradually in a crisscross pattern.

Tightening torque
29 N·m {3.0 kgf·m, 21 ft·lbf}

4.  Remove the SST.
